types of doodles

There are many varieties of poodle cross puppies, so it's essential that you understand their sizes, coats, shedding and health screening. Our main breed is the authentic Australian Service Dog (ASD Australian Labradoodle) from Rutland Manor/Tegan Park lines however we occasionally breed other doodles and we aim to provide useful info on all doodles such as goldendoodles, spoodles. cockapoos, schnoodles and british labradoodle puppies within the UK. Please call Lisa on 07540707117 or her home (02920 515171) if you need help working out which type of doodle is best for your family, as we know it can be confusing!

Rutland Manor/Tegan Park Australian Service Dogs (ASD Australian Labradoodles)

RM and TP are the co-founders of the ASD “Australian Labradoodle”, designed not only for service but also as low/no shedding family companions. Puppies which are 100% co-founder lines are renowned as the best, and have been the foundation for Australian Labradoodle breeding programs internationally.

As the first to import Australian Labradoodles into the UK in 2003, we have established a solid genetic foundation in this country with emphasis on temperament, health and fleece/wool coat. We are now breeding our second generation of Australian Labradoodles (i.e. australian labradoodle parents born themselves in the UK) as well as still importing unrelated lines from Australia for diversity. Our in-breeding co-efficient is under 10%. Our pdf document below should answer all your questions and has lots of photos. Only dogs labelled 100% RM/TP in our gallery are wholly from the co-founder lines.

Australian Labradoodles (1-99% RM/TP)

All Labradoodles which have three or more permitted pedigree breeds in the mix are "Australian Labradoodles". If the pup is not directly and solely from RM/TP lines then we call them 1-99% to ensure there is no confusion. Also we DON'T use the ASD logo even though they are part co-founder lines.

The extra ingredient can be British Labradoodle, Australian Labradoodle or any of the pedigree breeds involved, such as Poodle. These Australian Labradoodles are usually cheaper in cost, however they may not be as consistent as those solely from the longer established lines. The results will depend on the individual mix but for example adding Poodle makes the coat woolier and can increase poodle characteristics.

Scruffy shedding labradoodles

If you do not fancy the curly fleece/wool coat and prefer a labrador-sized, scruffy looking dog then these doodles are best for you!

They do shed to varying degrees so not generally suitable for families with concerns over asthma or allergies.

Spoodles/Cockapoos

Spaniel infused australian labradoodles are a good option for families wanting smaller dogs. Also the coat is slightly looser which can be appealing if you prefer less curls than some of the more poodle-like doodles. We are taking names for Spring and Autumn 2010.

Goldendoodles

If you are looking for a large doodle and don't fancy a standard australian labradoodle then perhaps a goldendoodle? Even if a smaller dad poodle is used, the size of a retriever means that these are highly unlikely to be "mini". These scruffy to borderline coats are a risk to allergies, and we have had a few families react to these coats unfortunately.

We are hoping for a litter of goldendoodles to go home Autumn 2009 please contact lisa to reserve one
